Firefight is the second book of The Reckoners series written by Brandon Sanderson

Synopsis Edit

Newcago is free.

They told David it was impossible, that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet Steelheart--invincible, immortal, unconquerable--is dead. And he died by David's hand.

Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life simpler. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And no one in Newcago can give him answers.

Babylon Restored, the city formerly known as the borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though. Ruled by the mysterious High Epic Regalia, Babylon Restored is flooded and miserable, but David is sure it's the path that will lead him to what he needs to find. Entering a city oppressed by a High Epic despot is risky, but David's willing to take the gamble. Because killing Steelheart left a hole in David's heart. A hole where his thirst for vengeance once lived. Somehow, he filled that hole with another Epic--Firefight. And now he will go on a quest darker and even more dangerous than the fight against Steelheart to find her, and to get his answers.

Plot Edit

Part 1 Edit

Steelheart was dead. But there were others. Sourcefield arrived in Newcago to seek and destroy the Reckoners. But David knew her weakness, and they were able to defeat her. Abraham picked up a flower from her corpse. A flower that came from New York City. David figured that all the attacks that they had in the past few months were not a coincidence. It was planned. Prof seemed to know what it was and he explained it to the team. Abraham and Cody stayed behind while the rest decided to go to Manhattan.

Tia, David, and Prof went to Babylon Restored or Babilar, formerly known as Manhattan in New York City. The trio stopped somewhere near Babilar to meet their fellow Reckoners: Mizzy, Val, and Exel. In this place, Val stood as the leader of the group along with Prof. Their mission was to spy and monitor the activities of Regalia, a High Epic who ruled the city. They had a suspicion that she was the one who sent Mitosis, Instabam, and Sourcefield to Newcago. Babilar was very different compared to Newcago; the concrete jungle was flooded and all the residents lived on the rooftops of the skyrises.
